Types of Oils
It is important to note that massage or therapeutic oils may be divided into two categories – carrier and essential oils. Essential oils are extracted from seeds or other parts of plants or flowers that contain the characteristic fragrance of the ingredient. Essentials oils are very strong smelling and can’t be used on their own. They need to be diluted in carrier oils also too have curative properties of their own.
Carrier oils
These are extracted from fruits, nuts and vegetables and as they serve as a container for essential oils, they are also termed as base oils.
